The FENZ Transition Project

The FENZ Transition Project

The fire and other emergency functions of 40 organisations will be amalgamated into Fire and Emergency New Zealand from 1 July 2017 — the most significant change to fire services in 70 years. The Bill to amalgamate New Zealand’s fire services has passed through parliament and will now replace the Fire Service Act 1975 and the Forest and Rural Fires Act 1977.

Are the new Health & Safety laws making New Zealand safer?

On 4 April, the ‘new’ Health and Safety at Work Act will have been in effect for a year.  So, what has changed - and where are we at? We see hundreds of cases in the courts every year, and some of them are… interesting to say the least! However, we still have a long road ahead of us before we see the positive effects of the changes in ultimately creating a safer society with a strong safety culture.

Holiday Hours 2016

Merry Christmas New Zealand!

Time to deck the halls with boughs of holly – well perhaps not boughs of holly, but fairy lights for sure! We’d like to thank you for a fantastic year and we look forward to working with you in 2017.

Our Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch teams will take a well-deserved break from Thursday 22nd December, reopening on Monday 9th January.

We wish you a wonderful Christmas break, and hope you have a relaxing and rejuvenating New Year!

New Zealand’s Occupational Health & Safety culture is on course to change

The NZ government recognises a need to reduce workplace incidents. Their target is to reduce serious and fatal incidents in the workplace by 25%, by 2020.

If it is passed, the Health & Safety in Employment Act will be replaced with the Health and Safety at Work Act. Find out what this means for FPANZ members.
